"Turning 40 Class Reunion"

I just read my messages on facebook, and one was from an old classmate. She asked for my address and phone number because she's going to send me some information on a 70's themed turning 40 class reunion. The reason she's putting this together is because most of us who graduated in 1989 are turning 40 this year. That made me wonder, I'm turning 40 this year. I think after I made it to 30, the years just rolled by so quickly. My birthday isn't until  November and I am looking forward to it. My daughter is already trying her best to plan a 40th birthday bash for me. It really doesn't matter what I do, just as long as I'm surrounded by my family and closest friends. I would also like to say that this has been a great semester for me and I've learned alot from this English class. This is our last blog post, until I got in this class I had no idea what a blog was. Hope the rest of this semester is great for everyone. Thank you Ms. Smith for being a great instructor!

A Beautiful Day

Today was a  beautiful day, this week has been quite chilly and when I woke up this morning the sun was beaming inside my room. I decided to fix pancakes and bacon for the girls. I wanted to make sure they would have enough energy to help me clean out closets. We cleaned the house from top to bottom and I was so tired from walking up and down the stairs, I know I've loss about 5 pounds. We mopped floors, cleaned windows and mirrors, cleaned tubs, toilets, carpet, closets, packed up old clothes, washed, and the list goes on. After all this work, my daughter wants to go shopping, so we get ready to go shopping and we enjoyed the day out in this beautiful weather. When we got to the 5th store, I was ready to call it quits. I couldn't go to another store, we had already been to the mall and then we ended up on Youree drive. I must say this Saturday was a beautiful day. Hopefully the up coming week will be beautiful as well.

Nice Day!!

Today started off so hectic for me, I had to go to my half-sisters mom funeral. My daughter have swim class on Saturday mornings, so I got my older daughter to taker her for me. It is such a beautiful day outside. I want to go to the park and feed the ducks. All I can think of right now is the pain my two half sisters are feeling right now. After the funeral services I enjoyed the nice day out.

Is it Spring Break Yet!

I'm counting the days down until spring break. I want to take at lease one day to do something relaxing for myself and  another day to clean my house from top to bottom. I have closets to clean out so I can give clothes to the Providence House. I already have about four large trash bags full of clothes in my trunk now. The day is not long enough, seems like I have so much to do with little time. I think I will treat myself to a spa day. My daughter will also be on spring break at the same time so I will be putting her to work.

"My Five year old is So Funny"

I have to admit that my five year old daughter is so funny. We we're watching something on the Disney station and she told me "you ruined my life."I asked her what she mean by that and she said" You want let me sleep with you." I'm thinking to myself, I've runined her five years in this world. This was so funny to me I had to go to another room to laugh. She recently was tested to go to a Magnet school and on Thursday we passed by the school. I said "Morgan that's the school you might go to, we're just waiting on your test scores to come back." I'm still driving and Morgan tells me " I don't want to go to that school, It's Lame and I hate it."  She's talking like a teenager, so I have to stop that before it goes any further. We've had a long talk about things to say and not to say. I'm just waiting to see how long its going to be before she says something else about what she hates.

"School District Apologizes"

A school district in Central Ohio apologized for using a mock slave auction to teach social Studies to Elementary school students. When I read this story it disturbed me tremendously. A ten year old African American boy played the role of a slave and he was offended by this. The class was divided into slaves and masters. The masters had to bid on the slaves and they had to touch their arms, check their teeth and legs. The reason why they checked all of this is to see if the slave was strong enough to be a slave. Now I wasn't back in the slavery times, but I've read about it and my dad have told me many stories that his mother told him. My heart ached after reading this story. Slavery was so painful to so many people and to have a class of Elementary children playing slave and masters was wrong. A spokeswoman for Chapelfield Elementary school in Gahanna, Ohio said the slave auction was part of the state required curriculum. She also stated that it was a one time curriculum lesson. I 'm just wondering who made the curriculum for this district and why make students do something so horrible? I'm just relieved that the district have apologized.

"My dad's Retiring"

Tomorrow is my dad's last day working at the Post office as a mail carrier. He is retiring after 26 years. I asked him what will he do now and his response was " go fishing."  Before he worked at the Post Office he was a school teacher and before that he was in the Airforce and he did serve in Vietnam. Last year when he talked about the possibility of retiring, I asked did he want a party. He told me not to plan a party because he didn't need one. I was giving him a party regardless of what he said a year ago. When I first started planning it, he said my co-workers have been asking where my party will be. So now he's looking forward to the party which is Saturday. I'm ready for it to be over with, and guess who's doing the Retirement Speech; you guessed it, I am. I haven't even started preparing my speech, because my school work comes first. Hope everyone have a great weekend and say a prayer for me!!

Three day Weekend

I was super excited when the clock said 5:30 today. I've been waiting on this day all week long, and what a long week it has been. Monday is Presidents day and since I work at a credit union, we're off  for the holiday. When I arrived at work this morning I thought there was a chance of us being busy since it's Friday, a pay day for the Post Office, and we'll be closed on Monday. It turned out to be extra slow and I wasn't mad at all. I stayed on the computer most of the day, read the newspaper and helped members over the phone. My plans are very simple this weekend and they are to do absolutely nothing. Hope everyone enjoy their weekend, I'm definitely going to try to enjoy mine!

Time to Rest

This week has been a busy one in the banking business, I work at a Credit Union  and we have seen  many income tax checks this week. I still don't understand why some people want to cash their checks and walk around with 8 or 9 thousand dollars on them. It's just dangerous and really crazy to me. Usually we're really slow but since tax season has come around business has picked up tremendously. I've seen members who only come every year around tax time, so it's been a year since I"ve seen them.  I am in need of a day of rest with nothing to do at all. I don't think that will happen anytime soon. I'm hoping since my daughter is home this weekend from college she will take her little sister to hang out with her Saturday. I will keep my fingers crossed because if she does, I'm going to close my eyes for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour with no interruptions. Hopefully sometime this weekend I will have time to rest.

The end of the month

The year started so quickly for me and I can't believe January is over. This is how my week for the end of the month went. It started off with me working at our other branch for the Credit Union on Youree Drive, I hate traffic on Youree Dr. I ended up going to get something quick to eat for breakfast, a free spicy chicken and bisquit from chick-fil-a and guess what happened, I ended up feeling sick after lunch. I  threw up my breakfast and I felt horrible. My day wasn't over yet and my daughter has ballet on Monday nights so needless to say we didn't make ballet class. When I made it home I was feeling worse and the next day was the same and I went to the doctor, my blood pressure was low and I have high blood pressure and I couldn't believe that my reading was 100/59. My doctor informed me that this was probably one of the reasons I had been light headed for the past two weeks and the throwing up was possibly from the fast food. I had work and school the rest of the week and on Saturday morning my daughter has swim class. A woman's work is never done because even though I felt bad majority of the week I still had school, work, my daughters activities, cooking and cleaning.  I already know that my first week of February will be great! I'm going to think positive and know in my heart that everything is going to be smooth sailing.
